Martin set up My Management Accountant in 2009. He’s proud to offer an accountancy service with a difference, helping clients to grow their businesses and offering support and advice that goes above and beyond the standard compliance services, such as year end accounts and VAT returns.
Martin started his career in finance in 1995, after finishing his degree at Liverpool John Moores University. He then went on to become a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) in 1997. After starting out as a management accountant in the NHS, Martin went on to a number of finance roles within large corporations.
In 2009 Martin decided to go it alone, setting up My Management Accountant and focussing on the digital aspects of accountancy for owner-managed businesses. As Managing Director of a small but growing business, Martin’s role in the company is very varied. When asked about his accountancy background, Martin commented, “Working as an accountant in industry allows you to see what actually happens in business – why the finances are the way they are – which is why working with owner-managed businesses is so varied and interesting.”
He spends his time discussing his clients’ business challenges and successes, meeting new clients and trying to keep his team of accountants happy in the office. Martin’s ethos for the company is to create a working environment that both clients and staff want to be a part of.
Although the concept of ‘spare time’ is slightly alien for Martin (he runs his business and has three children at home!) he does like to go running as often as he can. According to Martin, “It’s just as good for clearing the mind as it is for the physical work out.” Martin ran the London Marathon in 2018, raising money for charity in the process.
